Overview

Bean Rev is building direct farm-to-consumer coffee commerce — cutting the intermediaries that leave growers with 2–5% of retail. We built the investor deck: the market inefficiency, the trade-risk case, the business model, competitive positioning and the funding ask.

The problem

Ethical-sourcing stories are common and rarely fundable. The deck had to make an economic argument, not a moral one — and survive a question about tariffs and supply-chain risk.

What we did

  1. 01Opened on the measurable inefficiency — growers capturing 2–5% of retail — rather than on the mission.
  2. 02Addressed trade risk directly, including the US tariff exposure on Colombian imports, instead of leaving it for an investor to raise.
  3. 03Positioned against the actual comparables — Algrano, Trade Coffee, Cropster — rather than claiming no competition.
  4. 04Structured the funding ask by allocation so the use of funds was checkable.
